MEET A MEMBER - Elizabeth Blake-Thomas

Meet a Member: Elizabeth Blake-Thomas

Meet Elizabeth Blake-Thomas from Burton in Derbyshire, who moved to LA three years ago from to be with her daughter, but has now directed four feature films in her first year as a female director.
Was there a particular reason you chose LA?
Originally it was to support my daughter. She is a successful working actress.
What do you miss most from home?
I’m afraid to say to all the Brits, but I don’t miss anything. I feel truly at home. Most of my friends and family also come and visit me regularly.
What was your first impression of LA and has it changed since?
It was going to be like Entourage. And it totally is. Everyone is so friendly to us and helpful.
What do you find the biggest difference is living here versus Burton?
It’s definitely the weather. But the people are more open to wanting you to be successful. Everyone is so ready to introduce us to anyone who can help.
Do you have a hidden gem in LA that you want to share with us?
The Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, where the main room is stunning for a drink. Also Off Vine is the most gorgeous little restaurant from Old Hollywood.
What would you suggest to others who are thinking about making the move here?
To go for it. Live your dreams and don’t let anyone tell you it’s not possible.
Lots of our members join our group Brits in LA seeking out words of wisdom – what is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Get your paperwork in place straight away. Your social security card, your driving license and a credit card.
Lastly, how can we find out more about you? Are you working on anything at the moment?
All of my social media handles are @elizabeth_b_t and my site is www.elizabethblakethomas.com, I have also got my fiction book Arabella coming out later this year published by Wallace Publishing. I am shooting three more movies this year. I have four features also being released this year.
